Donald A. Durecki, 84, of Warsaw, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Aug. 2, 2009, in his residence, with his loving wife at his side.

He was born April 23, 1925, in Detroit, Mich., to John and Josephine Banish Durecki. He married Josephine D. Dolecki, who survives.

He was an AAA sales representative in Hamtramck, Mich., for 25 years, retiring in 1987. He was member of St. Marks Catholic Church, Warren, Mich., for more than 40 years; a member of the Hamtramck High School Breakfast Club that meets every Thursday morning; past commander and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 4162, Hamtramck; and was an avid fisherman. He moved to Warsaw from Warren, Mich., in 2004. He entered the U.S. Navy on Sept. 4, 1943, at LB 51, Hamtramck, serving in World War II. He was honorably discharged April 1, 1946, at USN PSC, Shelton, Va.

Also surviving are a daughter, Donna (and spouse Gary) Tremblay, Carmel; two sons, Dr. Donald A. (and spouse Michele) Durecki Jr., Warsaw, and Daniel (and spouse Lisa) Durecki Macomb, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Delores Pirog, Hamtramck. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Durecki, who died in 1998.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 15, 2009, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 4401 Bart Ave., Warren, Mich., officiated by Father Ruedesilli of the church. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Mich.

Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
