NAPPANEE - Don McKee, 82, of 1051 Beechwood Drive, Nappanee, died at 2 p.m. June 23, 2009, in Harbor Manor Nursing Home, Noblesville, after a three-month- illness.

He was born Nov. 21, 1926, in Culver, to Cortland and Trula Griffith McKee. On July 22, 1950, in Culver, he married Betty Triplet, who preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of Culver High School and Manchester College, earned a master's degree from Indiana University and an administration degree from Ball State University. Working at Wa-Nee Community Schools since 1958, as a teacher, coach and administrator, he retired in 1986. He formerly taught at Jimtown and Sidney schools. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Nappanee United Methodist Church and Indiana State Teachers Association, a formerly member of Moose Lodge and was active with Nappanee Open Door.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan (and spouse Wayne) Weise, Noblesville, and Marcia McKee, Lakeland, Fla.; three grandchildren; a brother, Vern (and spouse Miriam) McKee, Culver; and two sisters, Mary Powers, Culver, and AnneBelle Fisher, Bremen. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Nappanee United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Harrold officiating. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery with military graveside services by members of Nappanee American Legion.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
