Don L. Miner, 68, passed away July 19, 2015, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 16, 1947, in Warsaw, the son of Harold and Betty Martin Miner. On June 1, 1974, he married Carolyn Schneider, who survives after 41 years of marriage.
He graduated from Warsaw High School and received his bachelor’s and two master’s degrees from Ball State University. He taught mathematics at Muncie Central High School until his retirement May 30, 2003, and previously taught at Wilson Middle School.
He was a member of Muncie Community Schools Teachers Association, Indiana Teachers Association and National Education Association and served as a negotiator for the teachers union; Muncie Elks Lodge #245, where he was a trustee from 1994 to 1996; chairman of the golf committee from 1985 to 1989, and had a hole in one in 2001; and was past president of the Muncie Teachers Bowling League.
Also surviving are his mother, Betty Miner, Warsaw; his brother, Ray (and spouse Gayle) Miner, Warsaw, their children, Jeff Miner (and spouse Sherry), Warsaw and Matt Miner (and spouse LeeAnn), Warsaw; his sister-in-law, Patricia Brown (and spouse George), LaGrange, their children, Janet Marie Jones (and spouse Jeremy), Topeka and Elizabeth Brown, Indianapolis; and six great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Miner.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, Muncie, with an Elks memorial service at 8 p.m.; and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
