Iris Jones Dickerhoff, born Aug. 3, 1932, north of Etna Green, celebrated her 80th birthday recently.

She grew up in the Beaver Dam School system (now Tippecanoe Valley), where she was active as a cheerleader for the basketball team. She has been involved in the Women’s Auxiliary, Reading Club, Psi-Iota-X and supporting her children.

On March 1, 1952, she married Richard Dickerhoff,  who is deceased. She has lived in Mentone for the past 60 years where Richard owned and operated Dickerhoff Trucking and Valley Farms with her as his head secretary, bookkeeper and confidont.

She has five children: the late Dan Dickerhoff; Don (and spouse Bev) and Doug (and spouse Kelly), all of Warsaw; Alicia (and spouse Dean) Houston, Texas; and Amy, Mentone; and six grandchildren.

She was surprised when family gathered in her honor for a dinner out. Along with her kids, her two brothers also attended, Alden Junior (and spouse Penny) Jones and Howard Rudolph (and spouse Carol) Jones. They later went back to Doug’s residence for pie and coffee.

She would enjoy receiving cards and hearing from friends. Cards may be sent to her at P.O. Box 116, Mentone, IN 46539.      [[In-content Ad]]
