DECATUR – Derek Ogden Franz, 21, 17412 Clayton Road, Monroeville, died Nov. 23, 2013, fatally injured following a traffic accident on Hoagland Road in Allen County.
He was born Nov. 16, 1992, in Fort Wayne, to Kent R. and Sandra J. Ogden Franz.
 He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling. He was a 2011 graduate of Heritage High School, and he was a self-employed farmer working with his father on the family farm known as Franz Farms.
Surviving are his father and step-mother, Sandy Trowbridge Franz, Monroeville; sister, Jordyn K. Franz, at home; grandfather, Maurice Ogden, Roann; aunts and uncles: Donna (and spouse Dale) Schlemmer, Gladstone, Mich.; LouAnn (and spouse Bill) Beery, Fort Wayne; Ron (and spouse Marge) Franz, Decatur; Janell (and spouse Ed) Harper, Monroeville; Ron (and spouse Lora) Ogden, Dennis Ogden, Cindy (and spouse Dennis) Minnix, and Julie Ogden, all of Roann; and Cheryl (and spouse Rick) Schooley, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra, who died June 30, 2006. He was loved and will be missed by many cousins.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling, with the Rev. Martin Moehring officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Fuelling.
Calling will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and for one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
