MILFORD - Della Marie Baumgartner, 90, of Milford, passed away at 1:12 a.m. Oct. 13, 2010, in Goshen Hospital, where she was a patient for several days.

She was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Bluffton, to Noah Frederick and Estina Frauhiger. On Feb. 6, 1943, in Orlando, Fla., she married Arch Baumgartner, who died in 1988.

She was a 1938 Warsaw High School graduate. She joined her husband in the printing business in Milford in 1945, and assumed a wide variety of responsibilities centering around bookkeeping and business management. When The Papers Inc. was formed in March 1973, she became the secretary-treasurer. She was The Papers Inc. Publisher Emeritus at the time of her death.

She served as president of the Columbia Reading Circle, Milford, which refurbished the lakeside area at Waubee Park. She also chaired a group of Milford citizens who gathered Mental Health Christmas gifts. She also served on the board for the development of Leisure Living Apartments, Milford.

She and her husband were co-chairs of the United Way drive in Milford for many years and of the Milford Parent Teachers Organization, instrumental in the outside basketball court being installed.

She was president of the Wawasee Booster Club, Syracuse, prior to the opening of Wawasee High School in 1968.

She was a member of Milford United Methodist Church and served on the church financial commission and was a member of the United Methodist Pastoral Relations committee.

Surviving are a son, Ronald, Syracuse; three grandchildren: Christine (and spouse Jeremy) Corson, Warsaw; Jennifer, Chicago; and Jason Yoder (and Dalia Brahmi) Geneva, Switzerland; four great-grandchildren, Claire and Benjamin Corson and Elias and Camila Yoder; a brother, Ralph, Goshen; and three sisters, Lucille Lundgren, Wakarusa, and Marjorie Suter and Elizabeth Schussele, both of Goshen. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Yoder Redmond; a grandson, Craig Yoder; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Baumgartner; two sisters, Velma Beck and Jane Everett; and four brothers, Herman, Ervin, Kenneth and Noah Jr. Frauhiger.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Milford United Methodist Church with the Rev. L. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mishler Funeral Home, Ind. 15S, Milford.
