The scholarships were named in memory of former students Ashleigh Bruner, Jacquline Egolf, Kurt Engler, Emma Martin and Lori Rigsby and former dance parent Cindy Crane. They were developed by the studio to offer opportunities to students through financial assistance and also encourage students through the recognition of their abilities and achievements.
Applicants were divided into age categories and each submitted a creative report describing a country they would like to share a dance exchange with, including what they would be excited to share and why, and what they would like to learn.
The recipients each received a class scholarship from the studio for the 2016-17 annual season. They included, from Warsaw: Alliana Fitzpatrick, daughter of Johnna Jones and Roger Fitzpatrick; Brooke Rumple, daughter of Dan and Kari Rumple; Emily Carr, daughter of Jonathan and Megan Carr; Khareus Miller, son of Lori Miller; Winona Lake: Joy Hanes, daughter of Mark and Lauri Hanes; and Claypool: Annabel Parker, daughter of Ryan and Rachel Parker of Claypool.
