Deana Carter To Perform July 29 In Central Park

Country Music Award winner and two-time Grammy Award nominee Deana Carter will appear in Warsaw for the July 29 country concert.

Headlining the Blues and BBQs July 15 concert is Anthony Gomes. Also appearing that day are Doc Wadkins and the Hardpack and Southside Denny, according to parks department activity director Janelle Wilson.

The Warsaw Board of Works approved a slew of performance contracts Friday.

Board members opened bids for Phase II of the downtown streetscape project from Cluney Landscaping in the amount of $143,000 and from Pioneer Associates in the amount of $133,745. The bid award was tabled until the next BOW meeting March 18.

The board also:

• Approved a three-year contract with Wildman Uniform to supply mats for city hall and the parks department.

• Approved a contract with Arrow Services to provide treatment for termites at Center Lake Pavilion for $2,980.

Parks superintendent John Garber said termites were found in an interior wall of the pavilion's kitchen area when work was being done there.

• Approved a maintenance agreement with Allen Business Machines for a copier at the wastewater utility for a minimum of $30 per month.

• Approved a lease-purchase agreement with Public-Finance.com Inc. for a John Deere 110 tractor-loader-backhoe as requested by the cemetery department.

The first payment is due Aug 15 with five payments to follow semi-annually for a total of $32,449.42.

• Approved fire chief Matt Warren's request to advertise to sell the present ladder truck. Warren said the new truck is expected to be delivered the first week of April.

• Took no action regarding a settlement in the Paxil class action lawsuit.

• Approved a Herceg and Associates engineering services contract for work on an as-needed basis in an amount not to exceed $25,000.

• Approved Public Works superintendent Lacy Francis Jr.'s request for a new front loader to be purchased from Bobcat of Warsaw in the amount of $17,593, which includes an $8,850 discount and $11,700 value on other "Bobcat" trade-ins.

• Approved travel requests for Kim Arnold, Elaine Call, Milissa Griffith, Beth Stockdale and Connie Volkert from the clerk's office; for Brandon Zartman, Brian Roberts, Brian Hupp, Perry Hunter, Wayne Wilkie and Bryan Sherwin of the police department; for Travis Rowland, Brian Drobitsch, Dave Vercurteren, Josh Engler, Brooke Murphy, Kerry Stogsdill, Rob Barker and Mike Rice of the fire department; and Lacey Francis for the street department.

• Approved the following contracts with performers and support services: with John Finken for CODA to be the opening act at the Classic Rock Concert, June 17, for $750; with Marlene Lobsiger for Music Express to perform Aug. 5 for $475; with Sam Tash for the Northeast Indiana Banjo Society to perform July 8 for $500; with Elvis impersonator Quentin Flagg to perform Aug. 26 for $750; with James Wadkins for Doc Wadkins and the Hardpack to perform during Blues and BBQs July 15 for $300; with Denny Snyder for Southside Denny for $750; with Intrepid Artists Inc. for an appearance by Anthony Gomes, a $2,000 deposit for a total of $,4000; with Sherry Harke for Kennedy's Kitchen to perform June 10 for $1,000; with Sound Production for the Movie Mondays series, June 13 and 27, July 13 and 25, and Aug. 8 and 15 for $3,450; with Kevin Roberts Entertainment Agency Inc. $400 commission to secure Blues and BBQs acts; and a contract in the amount of $1,364 to Ramada Plaza for hotel accommodations following various concerts.
