July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

By Staff Report-

Kosciusko REMC members and their dependents have until 5 p.m. Friday to submit entries for the 2011-2012 Kosciusko REMC Scholarships.

Six $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in May to winning applicants who are pursuing higher education.

The scholarships will be awarded based on a combination of academic achievement, financial need and community involvement/leadership. Graduating high school seniors and current college students, as well as adults working towards a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree are eligible to apply, so long as the scholarship funds are remitted to an accredited two- or four-year college or university.

This marks the eighth year for the scholarship program.

"Commitment to education is a core operating principle for Kosciusko REMC," said KREMC President and CEO Steve Rhodes. "We are proud to continue this commitment by offering these scholarships. Throughout the program's existence, we have awarded more than $42,000 in scholarships, and have seen some of our recipients come back to work and make their homes here. There is no better investment we know of for helping keep our communities strong."

Scholarship applications are available online at www.kremc.com, through the Kosciusko County Community Foundation office, or through guidance counselors at area high schools. All applications must be received by 5 p.m. Friday. Winners will be notified in May.[[In-content Ad]]For more information on the scholarship program, contact Doris Lemert at 574-267-6331 or [email protected]
