July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.
By Staff Report-
Six $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in May to winning applicants who are pursuing higher education.
The scholarships will be awarded based on a combination of academic achievement, financial need and community involvement/leadership.
Graduating high school seniors and current college students, as well as adults working towards a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree are eligible to apply, so long as the scholarship funds are remitted to an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
This marks the seventh year for the scholarship program.
"Commitment to education is a core operating principle for Kosciusko REMC," said KREMC President and CEO Steve Rhodes. "We are proud to carry on this commitment through the offering of these scholarships. Throughout the program's existence, we have awarded over $36,000 in scholarships to some phenomenal students and members of our community. We've seen the benefit of this investment pay off as some of these students have returned home to work in Kosciusko County."
Scholarship applications are available online at www.kremc.com, through the Kosciusko County Community Foundation office, or through guidance counselors at area high schools.
All applications must be received by 5 p.m. March 31. Winners will be notified in May.[[In-content Ad]]For more information on the scholarship program, contact Doris Lemert, manager of marketing and communications, at 574-267-6331 or via e-mail at [email protected]
