Applicants are selected by criteria which includes financial need, disability and age. Applicant T.R. Jones was proud to show off his snowball flowers, and his wife, Louise, who paints, gave a brief tour of her artwork when Day of Caring committee members visited to assess a project at the Jones’ home.
The purpose of the Day of Caring is to assist homeowners with minor repair and clean-up jobs around their home and property that they would not have been able to accomplish on their own.
The Jones’ home will receive window washing, painting, a new porch ceiling, wooden steps and yard work. Approximately 15 volunteers will be needed for this project.
Last year, 117 projects were completed throughout Kosciusko County in 12 communities with the help of 1,250 volunteers.
This year, the project list will be available to volunteers from the general public for project selection after the July 4 weekend.
