He was born June 6, 1960, in Goshen, to Owen D. and Edith A. Mast Avery.
He was a lifetime Syracuse area resident and 1979 graduate of Wawasee High School. He retired in 2006 as an assembler from Silgan Plastics, Ligonier, after 26 years of service. He formerly attended Church of the Brethren, Syracuse.
Surviving are his mother, Edith Avery, Syracuse; two sisters, Sharon (and spouse Dewayne) Lemler, Nappanee, and Esther (and spouse Gary) Fisher, Leesburg; three brothers, Frederick (and spouse Eleanor) Avery, Plymouth, and Jimmie (and spouse Crystal) Avery and Allen (and spouse Carol) Avery, all of Syracuse. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with the Rev. Larry Rice officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
