PLYMOUTH – David S. Stewart, 95, of 1634 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw, passed away at 1:45 p.m.  May 10, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.

He was born Nov. 6, 1916, in Detroit, Mich., to Charles and Mary Young Stewart. On Sept. 4, 1950, he married Elizabeth “Betty” S. Stofer, who died April 13, 2009.

He was a resident of Marshall County since 1953, having moved from Detroit, Mich. He was a retired accountant and a member of Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge 149, a 33rd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Shriners and a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, Plymouth. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Evelyn Stofer, Warsaw; a nephew, Dr. William (and spouse Jenny) Stofer, Warsaw; great-nephews, Harrison A. Stofer and Jacob B. Stofer, both of Warsaw; and his brother, James Stewart, Farmington Hills, Mich. He also was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, William H. Stofer; two sisters; and a brother.

Services were Tuesday at Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, with the Rev. Larry Marhanka officiating. Burial was in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Calling was Monday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. by members of Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge.
