He was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Franklin, N.C., to William and Villa Rogers Dills. On Nov. 19, 1982, in Waterford, Mich., he married Mary Ramey, who survives.
He retired in 1988 from General Motors Corp., Kalamazoo, as a millwright. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He was a member of American Legion Post 475, Schoolcraft, Mich.; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7339, Franklin, N.C.; and Eagles Aerie, Portage, Mich.
Also surviving are three daughters, Pam (and Norm) Overweg and Debbie Bright (and Vern Overweg), all of Vicksburg, Mich., and Regina (and Wayne) Hannah, Winona Lake; grandchildren: Kelly, Matt and Suzanna Overweg; Ryan Bright; Brooke Behar; and Whitney and Alexander Hannah; six great-grandchildren; and nephews: Billy Dills and Ronnie Nicholson. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with the Rev. Wayne Hannah officiating. Burial will be private.
Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
