FORT WAYNE - David R. "Dave" Dewart, 81, passed away Dec. 21, 2008, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born in Warsaw to Ralph and Ruth Coleman Dewart. In 1950, he married Patricia Morgan, who survives.

He served as an Army cryptanalysis technician in Germany at the end of World War II. He graduated from Purdue University. A mechanical engineer, he retired from Rea Magnet Wire after 28 years. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. His volunteer work included the Boy Scouts, SCORE and Parkview Hospital. He enjoyed camping, reading, photography and listening to Dixieland jazz.

Survivors include his daughter, Mona (and Warren Cartmel) Dewart, Fort Wayne; a son, Bruce Morgan (and Rita) Dewart, Gurnee, Ill.; and his grandchildren, David, Amanda and Ashly. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Dewart; and a sister, Betsy Bartlett.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Road, with the Rev. Derek Weber officiating.

Calling is one hour prior to services at the church, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne.
