He was born June 18, 1950, in Versaillis, Ky. On July 22, 1978, he married Ann Richwine, who survives.
He graduated from Elwood High School and has been living in Warsaw for the past 15 years. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from General Motors in 2006, after 32 years of service. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
Also surviving are his mother, Ann Hardebeck, Elwood; his father, Jim Hardebeck, Amboy; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Richwine (and spouse Jim) Stroup, Kokomo; a very special aunt, Virginia McPhearson, Elwood; three brothers, Eddie Gordon and Mike and Bob Coubert, all of Elwood; three sisters, Fannie Coubert and Carmie (and spouse Dave) Frye, all of Elwood, and Sue (and spouse Jeff) Little, Goshen; two stepsisters, Brenda (and spouse Jeff) Moss, Amboy, and Ronda Mousty, Anderson; a stepbrother, Richard (and spouse Wilma) Hardebeck, Elwood; two sisters-in-law, Roberta (and spouse Mike) Hankley and Becky (and spouse David) Lewis, all of Elwood; three brothers-in-law: Mark (and spouse Brenda) Richwine, Elwood; Denny (and spouse Sherry) Richwine, Anderson; and the Rev. Steve (and spouse Judy) Richwine, Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and stepbrother.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St., Elwood, with his brother-in-law Rev. Steve Richwine officiating. Military honor guard services will follow by members of the Elwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5782.
