NAPPANEE - David H. Stalnaker, 88, of 1700 Waterfall Drive, Nappanee, died at 1:40 a.m. Nov. 24, 2010, in Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born March 2, 1922, in Indianapolis, to Cecil and Annie Weber Stalnaker. On Oct. 17, 1944, in Roswell, N.M., he married Barbara Clifton, who died Dec. 26, 2004.

A lifetime Nappanee resident, he graduated in 1940 from Nappanee High School and attended Purdue University. He retired from Vitreous Steel Products in 1982 where he was vice president of manufacturing. He served in World War II and was a Korean War Air Force veteran. He was a pilot and served in Japan. He was a member of Purdue Alumni Association, former member and president of Nappanee Kiwanis and served as lieutenant governor of Kiwanis. He was a member of Nappanee United Methodist Church and Scottish Rite, South Bend.

Surviving are two sons, Scott (and spouse Jessie) Stalnaker, Jacksboro, Tenn., and John (and spouse Mary) Stalnaker, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary S. Gettelman.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. Janet McFall-Brown officiating. Cremation will take place. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery, with military graveside services by Nappanee American Legion.

Calling is from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
