FORT WAYNE – David E. Dickerhoff, 67, Washington Township, Whitley County, died at 4:15 p.m. Feb. 1, 2016, at his home after a year-long battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 21, 1948, in Wabash County, to Max E. and Martha Zellers Dickerhoff. On April 2, 1977, he was united in marriage to Kathlyn S. Springer, who survives.
They moved to their present home shortly after marriage. His formative years were spent in Silver Lake. He graduated from Manchester High School and attended Vincennes University.
In 1975, he joined his father in the operations of Dickerhoff Electric. He retired Dec. 31, 2014.
He was a member of The Chapel and a lifetime member of National Rifle Association.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeremy Dickerhoff, Tunker, and Kyle Dickerhoff, Fort Wayne; a granddaughter, Hailey N. Hinen, Columbia City; and a sister, Ann Hudson, Silver Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Jennifer Marie Dickerhoff.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at The Chapel, Fort Wayne.
Calling is 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at The Chapel and one hour prior to services Friday.
Arrangements are entrusted to Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
