He was born June 21, 1948, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Ralph and Mary Ruth Turner Walker. In 1987, he married Patricia Walker, who survives.
He was a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church, where he served as an usher. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He was owner of Harvest House restaurant, Warsaw, and was an insurance agent in Fort Wayne for many years. Upon moving to Cookeville, he founded Common Sense Publishing, which publishes the Senior Times, Our Journey and Celebrations Magazine.
Also surviving are his mother, Mary Ruth Walker, Ohio; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Walker (and companion Jeremy Davis), Warsaw; two stepdaughters; three sons: Jon (and spouse Michelle) Walker, Defiance, Ohio; Matt Walker, South Korea; and Tom Walker, Michigan; a stepson; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and a brother, Gary (and spouse Anna) Walker, Fenton, Mich. He was preceded in death by his father.
Services with military honors were Jan. 22 in Cookeville. A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Grace Gathering Church, New Haven.
