Daryl “Dobie” A. Doberstein, 71, of Warsaw, died unexpectedly at 5:45 p.m. Feb. 18, 2012, in his residence.

He was born Nov. 16, 1940, in Manistee County, Mich., to Arthur and Genevieve Erwin Doberstein. On Feb. 1, 1953, in Lakeville, he married Constance “Coni” D. Whybrew, who survives.

Moving to Warsaw since coming from Manistee County in 1962, he worked in shipping for R.R. Donnelley & Sons for 36 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Warsaw Moose and Eagles lodges. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, 4-wheeling and gardening. He was a hard worker and used firm guidance while raising his children to be the best they could be. Although he was a man of few words, he loved his family, especially enjoying his grandchildren and close friends.

Also surviving are three sons: Dan (and spouse Colleen) Doberstein, South Whitley; Terry (and spouse Rhonda) Doberstein, Columbia City; and Todd (and spouse Chris) Doberstein, Warsaw; a daughter, Tricia Radke, Columbia City; grandchildren: Joshua, Kenny, Nick, Emily, Abby, Hallie, Chelsea, Shea-Elizabeth and Ryan; a brother, Ronnie Doberstein, Copemish, Mich.; and three sisters: Phyllis (and spouse Walter) Rohn, Frankfort, Mich.; Louise Dempsey, Chicago, Ill.; and Sandy Conley, Wilburton, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Arthur Doberstein.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Bob Jarboe officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
