PIERCETON - Darwin W. Busz Sr., 78, of Pierceton, died at 1:55 a.m. Jan. 25, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born April 22, 1931, in Kosciusko County, to Thurman George and Nillie Birthwhistle Busz. On Jan. 3, 1983, he married Annette Suter, who survives.

He was a lifetime Pierceton resident and was in the Indiana National Guard. He retired from Weatherhead (Dana), Columbia City, as a floor inspector in 1991. He was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1906, Columbia City. He loved to listen to Mel Mullins, "Rolling the Dice." He also enjoyed having fun with family and friends.

Also surviving are two sons, Darwin (and spouse Rita) Busz Jr. and Bryan Busz, all of Warsaw; two brothers, Jim (and spouse Janice) Busz and Norm Busz, all of Pierceton; three sisters, Ada Finken and Lois Slieghter, both of Pierceton, and Maxine Slieghter, Albion; two stepchildren, Donald (and spouse Becky) Sills, Huntington, and Alice (and spouse Sam) Custer, Markle; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son; a daughter; two brothers; and a grandson.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Ind. 13, Pierceton. Burial will be private.

Calling is from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
