He was born Sept. 22, 1919, in Defiance County, Ohio, to Roland and Blanche Perry Walters. His father passed away from the flu epidemic shortly after Bud was born. His mother and sister Helen raised him.
On Nov. 20, 1941, in South Bend, he married Dorothy L. Case, who survives. They shared 67 wonderful years of marriage together.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was involved in D-Day on the sixth day, receiving an honorable discharge in 1945. He worked at Uniroyal from 1936-51. He became a firefighter, retiring from the Mishawaka Fire Department in 1976, after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360. He and Dorothy traveled by car to every state in the United States except Alaska.
Also surviving are two sons, J. Craig (and spouse Dorothy) Walters, Warsaw, and Keith D. Walters, Mishawaka; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister Helen Castleman, Mishawaka. He was also preceded in death by his mother; a sister, Dode; and his father-in-law, Irvin Case.
