PERU -Darrell K. Cunningham, 79, of Silver Lake, died at 10:24 p.m. Feb. 26, 2009, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born May 30, 1929, in Centralia, Mo., to Roy Lydy and Mildred Cunningham. On July 3, 1968, he married Treva Johnson, who died Nov. 16, 1995.

He was a Clay Township High School graduate and a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He retired from Continental Steel in 1985. He was an outdoorsman who thoroughly enjoyed fishing and hunting. Some of his best days were spent fishing with his neighbor, friend and longtime fishing buddy, Bill Pritchett of Silver Lake.

Surviving are a son, Darrell K. (and spouse Debi) James, Silver Lake; a daughter, Darcy McNary (and fiance Ben Fredricks) Nyona Lake; stepchildren, Charlotte (and spouse Ed) Wyatt and Freida Willis, all of Peru, and John (and spouse Beverly) Rogers and Angie (and spouse Steve) Ridenour, all of Silver Lake; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Kelly Smith.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru, with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park, Cass County, with a military graveside service by members of Miami County Military Rites Unit.
