NORTH MANCHESTER - Darrell D. Snyder, 82, of Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, died at 10:15 p.m. Aug. 1, 2009, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

He was born April 30, 1927, in Peru, to Clayton F. and Irene E. Fisher Snyder. On May 21, 1950, he married Ruth E. Paul, who died June 1, 2002.

He was a group underwriter with Mutual Security Life Insurance Co., Fort Wayne, for 38 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren and a charter member of Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren, Fort Wayne. He graduated from Huntington (W.Va.) East High School in 1945, and earned a bachelor's degree in music from Manchester College in 1949.

Surviving is a son, Jay D. (and spouse Peggy) Snyder, Champlin, Minn.; three daughters: Sharol L. (and spouse David) Miller, Goshen: Jane E. (and spouse David) Cox, Kokomo; and Carolyn M. Snyder, Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Graydon F. Snyder, Chicago, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Pastor Karen Eberly officiating. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.

Calling will follow the service.
