He was born June 1, 1937, in Tippecanoe, to Donald and Lena Baugher Barrett. On Feb. 28, 1959, in Bourbon, he married Bonnie Davis, who survives.
He had been a lifelong resident of Tippecanoe. He was a 1955 graduate of Tippecanoe High School. He had worked as a bindery operator at R.R. Donnelly and Sons, Warsaw, retiring in 1998. He wintered in Texas and he belonged to Carriage Travel Club, Sweet Owner International Travel Club and Kustom Car Club of South Bend. He loved old vintage cars, Corvettes, NHRA and NASCAR, following both Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr., and he was a huge Notre Dame fan.
Also surviving are three daughters: Jackie (and spouse Terry) Treesh, Etna Green; Jody (and spouse Dan) Gochenour, Auburn; Jeri Burkhart, Leesburg; seven grandchildren: Stacy Cripps, Chad and Jennifer Young, Jenna and Andrew Thiele, Ashley Gochenour, Donald, Clayton and Alex Burkhart; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, John (and spouse Jean) Barrett, Titusville, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marjorie Puckett; and a brother, Donald Jr. “Corky” Barrett.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Deaton Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with Laurie Kreft officiating. Burial is in Tippecanoe Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
