GREENVILLE, OHIO - Daniel F. Amspaugh, 82, of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away Oct. 22, 2008 at his residence.

He was born in Beamsville, Ohio,to Z. Wileford and Leslie B. Warvel Amspaugh. He married Marilyn R. Purtee, who died in 1975.

He was a graduate of Greenville High School and the Ohio State University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from the New Idea Farm Implements in Coldwater, where he worked for more than 30 years.

He was a local photographer and did photos for the Ansonia Schools and the Scottish Rite in Dayton. He served as mayor of Ansonia for 12 years as well as the town council and school board.

He was a member of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commision and the Darke County Republican Party, of which he was named Republican of the Year.

He was very active in local and state politics, the Masonic Lodge, Shrine Club and Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his daughter Coral (and spouse Eugene J.) Amspaugh-Topolski, Warsaw; four sisters; Mary (and spouse Charles) Hart, Dayton, Ohio; Iona Amspaugh, Berne; Thelma (and spouse Dean) Brewer, Greenville, Ohio; and Danna (and spouse Roger) Miller, Versailles, Ohio; his longtime companion, Betty Brumbaugh; and six nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, Ohio, with Ms. Iona Amspaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Greenville Masonic Lodge offering the Masonic Memorial Service at 4:45 p.m.
