He was born July 7, 1921, in Sevastopol, to Herschel Vern and Mabel Irene Singer Nellans. On July 21, 1947, in Kendallville, he married Rosellyn M. Pankop, who died Dec. 14, 2007.
He grew up on Twin Pine Poultry Farm, Sevastopol, moving to Warsaw in 1966. He was a 1939 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He was co-owner of Nellow Camp & Sport Center, and retired in 1984.
He was a member of Mentone Masonic Lodge, Mizpha Shrine and former member of Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club. He enjoyed fishing, golf and flying.
Surviving are two daughters, Marcia Nellans, Warsaw, and M. Sue (and spouse Maurice) Guiff, Akron; and a nephew, Roger (and spouse Diane) Nellans, Tucson, Ariz. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Max Nellans, and a sister, Helen Spitler.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Denny Bollenbacher, New Beginnings Community Church, Atwood, officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
