PERU – Dale N. Cook, 84, of Miami County, died Feb. 24, 2012.

He was born Nov. 22, 1927, to Horace D. and Ethel White Cook. On Oct. 15, 1950, he married Frances C. Lutz, who died July 21, 2007.

He was a 1945 graduate of Butler Township High School. He was a lifetime farmer and retired after 31 years from the U.S. Postal Service. He was active in the political process and served eight years on the Miami County Council. He also was involved in Indiana Farm Bureau, the Miami County 4-H Council, the Miami County Fair Board, the Richvalley Lions Club and was a charter member of the Peru Ringmasters Chorus. He was a member of Main Street United Church and loved to sing in the church choir as well as many community choirs. He enjoyed traveling across America and often drove group tour buses.

Surviving are four daughters: Carol (and spouse Kevin) Edmonds, Leesburg; Shirley (and spouse Larry) Wentzel, Mt. Vernon; Ellen (and spouse Mike) Lo, Killeen, Texas; and Nancy (and spouse Wayne) Ilderton, Peru; a son, Ron (and spouse Maureen) Cook, Peru; grandchildren: Justin (and spouse Kim) Land, Mariel Land, Kylie Edmonds, Daniel Wentzel, Christina Nunn, Susan (and spouse Kevin) Cupka Head, Dorothy Cupka, Holly (and spouse Andrew) Tyler; and Andrew Cook; three great-grandchildren, Katie, Maggie and Aubrey; two sisters, Ruth Hunt, Amboy, and Doris Rees-Kuntz, Oregon City, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Lois Cook, Nappanee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, the Rev. Ross Cook; and brothers-in-law, Byron Hunt and Larry Rees.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Main Street United Methodist Church, Peru, with Pastors Steven Ailes and Dave Scifres officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
