NORTH MANCHESTER – Dale F. Joy, 74, North Manchester and formerly of Roann, died Nov. 15, 2013, at his residence.
He was born July 5, 1939, in South Whitley, to Omer and Opal Elkins Joy. On Feb. 27, 1959, he married Phyllis A. Williamson, who died Oct. 11, 1993. On Aug. 21, 1999, he married Joyce A. Huffman Middleton, who survives.
He retired after 26 years at Orthopedic Precision Instruments, Roann. He was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester. He graduated from Roann High School in 1957. He was a collector of many things, with a special passion for unusual rocks, coins, bottles and glass. He also enjoyed woodworking and photography.
Also surviving are two daughters, Susan (and spouse Kurt) Carver, Warsaw, and Kristine (and spouse Jeffrey) Tucker, Claypool; two brothers, Ralph Joy, St. Cloud, Fla., and Robert Lee Joy, Pierceton; a sister, Elizabeth Peters, Texas; a stepson, Randy (and spouse Linda) Middleton, North Manchester; two stepdaughters, Karen (and spouse Terry) Hewitt and Diane (and spouse Brian) Haupert, both of North Manchester; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; two step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, three brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114 West, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery.
Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
