SYRACUSE – Dale Arnold Allen, 82, of Syracuse, died at 8:11 a.m. Aug. 16, 2012, in his residence.

He was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Grant County, to Raymond Harley and Agnes Allegra Largent Allen. On Sept. 9, 1951, he married Lois E. Harter, who survives.

He graduated from Sweetser High School in 1947 and Ball State Teachers College, Muncie, in 1951.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He moved to Syracuse from Sweetser in 1958 and retired in 1993 as president of Syracuse Rubber Products after 36 years of service. He formerly worked at General Tire & Rubber, Wabash, for five years.

He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Syracuse; a charter member of the Lions Club, Syracuse and the American Chemical Society; and was a life member of American Legion Post 223, Syracuse.

Also surviving are a daughter, Dr. Karen Allen-Keene (and spouse Delos “Dee” Keene), Raleigh, N.C.; a son, Dr. Larry (and spouse Fran) Allen, Syracuse; six grandchildren; and a sister, Joanna “Jo” Behr, Syracuse.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Syracuse, with Pastor Mark Eastway officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery with military graveside rites by members of Syracuse American Legion Post 223.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, and one hour prior to the service Sunday at the church. A Lions Club service will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
