FORT WAYNE - Cythera F. Baughman, 94, Fort Wayne, died Jan. 10, 2008, in St. Anne Home.

She was born May 13, 1913, in Michigan. She married Alvin Berg, who died in 1960. She married Donald Baughman, who died in 1967.

Moving to Fort Wayne in 1935, she started her career at Howards in 1941, as the buyer of fine jewelry and perfume. Later she added the women's boutique with handbags and clothing. For 43 years she continued to expand and develop the department to one of the finest of its type in Fort Wayne. She retired in 1984. She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two stepsons, James (and spouse Barbara) Berg, Indianapolis, and Jack Berg, Fort Wayne; two stepdaughters, Linda (and spouse Jim) Haffner, Fort Wayne, and Becky (and spouse Bob) Smith, Warsaw; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Hess, Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Sappington, in 1991.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity English Lutheran Church Chapel, 405 W. Wayne St., with Pastor Angela Shannon officiating. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery.

Calling begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
