Burket Boy Scout Troup 782 is working on its Cycling Merit Badge. On Sept. 7, several young men from the troop rode 50 miles on the Nickel Plate Bike Trail. They rode from Rochester to Peru and back again. The other half of the troop rode 25 miles. To earn this merit badge the boys must ride two 10-mile rides, two 15-mile rides, two 25-mile rides and one 50-mile ride. They must also learn bike maintenance. They were honored to have Certified Safe Cycling Instructor James Bausch teach them this at one of their Scout meetings.
