Cutie Parade

The 70th Annual Mermaid Festival activities began Wednesday with events like The Cutie Parade down Main Street. The theme for this year’s festival is “Back to the ’70s.” Top photo – Everett Guy, 5, North Webster, rode in a custom-built buggy recognizing the veterans of the Vietnam War, which ended in 1975. Everett’s dad, Ben Guy, wore the uniform his father wore while serving during the war, 1970-71. “I wore his uniform to honor him,” Ben said. Bottom photo – Mikilah Wiggs, 9, got groovy for the parade by dressing as the 1973 Miss Webster Lake pageant contestant in a homemade Volkswagen Beetle. The Mermaid Festival continues through Saturday, with the townwide parade at 4 p.m. Saturday.[[In-content Ad]]
