Crosswinds Counseling Receives Grant to Provide Services

According to a press release from the organization, Crosswinds is a non-profit agency that helps families struggling with issues such as troubled teenagers, suffering marriages, communication problems, trauma, grief, adoption issues or other emotional and mental health issues.
Their counseling services are home-based, which means one of their clinicians comes to the client’s home to conduct the therapy session.
This home-based approach allows Crosswinds’ clients to maintain privacy and also helps Crosswinds therapists facilitate change as they work with families in their most comfortable environment, the release states.
“Families avoid counseling and therapy for two reasons,” Crosswinds Vice President of Family Services David Long said in the release. “First, they are embarrassed to ask for help and second, many lack the financial means to pay. By partnering with the K21 Health Foundation, we reduce these obstacles. I am excited to assist families in my hometown of Warsaw and the surrounding communities within Kosciusko County.”
The grant from the K21 Health Foundation will allow Crosswinds to offer their in-home counseling services to Kosciusko County residents at a reduced rate in cases of financial need.
“K21 is excited to partner with Crosswinds in the initial start-up of this initiative. I believe that preventative programs like this will foster resilience and coping strategies for our at-risk youth,” said K21 Director Dr. Kevin Roberts. “This initiative will provide much needed support to many Kosciusko youth and families who may typically go unnoticed.”
