CROP Hunger Walk Sunday

The walk will begin with a time of prayer at 1:30 p.m. at the Center Lake Pavilion, 119 E. Canal St., Warsaw.
Walkers collect pledges to support the efforts of Church World Service around the globe and 25 percent of the monies will support the efforts of Combined Community Services and The Salvation Army in Kosciusko County.
Hunger affects more than a billion people worldwide. Hunger is an obstacle to progress: It increases susceptibility to disease, hinders learning and leaves a person weak and unable to work or meet family needs. This break in self-reliance inhibits developing economies and creates poverty.
Eradicating hunger and poverty is a cornerstone of Church World Service’s mission, and the problem isn’t just about getting people more food. Church World Service is promoting food security with programs that provide inputs, protect land rights, support nutrition education and food diversification and value indigenous knowledge.
Church World Service is also addressing the continued problem of clean drinking water worldwide.
“CROP Hunger Walk is way for the community to come together to address hunger and respond with financial donations to help others,” said Ken Locke, director of GWMA. “Local pantries have seen an increase in requests, especially from the elderly, unemployed and underemployed in Kosciusko County in recent months, so CROP monies will help to obtain items to help locally.”
Tax deductible donations may also be sent to: GWMA, P.O. Box 1797, Warsaw, IN 46581-1797 with check made payable to CWS/CROP.
