July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

PIERCETON – A Cromwell man is in critical condition in Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne following a Thursday night accident on Ind. 13 near Pierceton.
Michael T. Maskow, 37, of 9696 North Sandpoint Drive, Cromwell, was northbound on Ind. 13 north of Shoop Drive when his vehicle left the west side of the road and drove into a ditch. According to the accident report from Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Maskow drove his 2003 Dodge Ram for approximately 464 feet in the ditch when he then struck a drain pipe and drive way, causing the truck to go airborne for approximately 46 feet and then roll for 32 feet, ejecting Maskow.
An airlift was requested as Maskow sustained an injury to his ankle, but that was canceled due to weather.
Multi-Township EMS transported Maskow to Parkview Regional in Fort Wayne where it was discovered that Maskow also sustained a lung injury, a potentially punctured or collapsed lung, and had to be intubated, according to First Sergeant Chad Hill, KCSD public information officer.
KCSD deputies stated in the accident report that Maskow appeared to have been drinking. Results of a blood and urine test are pending.
Damages from the accident are estimated between $10,000 and $25,000. Maskow is currently listed in critical condition, according to a Parkview Regional Hospital spokesperson.[[In-content Ad]]
