By Staff Report-

The annual Crazy Waiter Dinner and Auction is Saturday.

The returning theme this year is "Dancing Under the Stars", featuring local chefs and caterers, as well as ballroom dancers from the community.

The 2517 Restaurant will host the event again this year beginning with cocktails at 6 p.m. Saturday.

This year's Mediterranean menu features cuisine and specialties from local restaurants and caterers.

The evening will kick off with a tango, followed by oyster stew and vegetable beef soup prepared by Dane Miller and his guest chef, Steve Miller, of Kosciusko Community Hospital.

Dinner will include a Brazilian Samba salad, hula whole grain rice pilaf, Paso Doble slow-roasted pork, chicken skewers with Swing Boogie Cilantro dipping sauce and salsa vegetables.

The experience will conclude with cheesecake, sponsored by Rockhill Pinnick LLP and Dane Miller's famous homemade caramel sauce, in addition to a sampling of Hoosier Mama Cookies.

The food is largely donated by the restaurants to support the event, according to Abbe Mute, cuisine coordinator for the event.

Participating chefs and caterers include Cerulean's Caleb France, Aaron Wilcoxson of Hoosier Mama Cookies, Noa Noa's Scott Woods, Karen Wolfe of Karen's Home-style to Go, Deb Parker of Garden Catering Company, Viand Chef Services Andrew Jones, 8WW Cuisine's Dudley Allen and Eagle Creek Farms.

In addition to the fine cuisine, highlights of the evening will include the dance competition and auctions.

Auction items featured this year include a vacation at the Florida home of Dane and Mary Louise Miller, NASCAR honorary pit crew package from ML Motorsports, a pair of Rick Fox basketball shoes signed by Fox, Chef for the Night with Viand Chef Services, theater tickets and more.

The dance competition will include dances performed by David and Natalie Brown (repeat champions), Dan and Sue Rumple, George and Ann Slaughter and Dave Wolkins and Diane Coldren. The winning pair is determined by votes. Votes are $5 each.

Voting is available to the general public even if they can not attend the event by choosing the Crazy Waiter Donation button on the Combined Community Services Facebook page.

This is the easy way for everyone in the community to help support CCS and participate in the dance competition.

"We love to see the votes come in from the general public and watch the competition grow in the days leading up to the event," said event co-chair Dana Leon Huffer.

The event will support Combined Community Services Inc., providing many programs and services for Kosciusko County, the largest of which is the Emergency Assistance program that offers long-term solutions as well as immediate financial help to those in need.

Combined Community Services was founded by the Greater Warsaw Ministerial Association to stop duplication of services provided to those in need in Kosciusko County.

Through support of the local churches and the United Way of Kosciusko County, CCS became a central agency for Kosciusko County residents to come to when they were in need.

Since its beginning in July 1984, Combined Community Services has become "the place for people in need" to come for assistance.[[In-content Ad]]From food, clothing, diapers, baby formula, or personal/hygiene products to financial assistance with utilities, CCS meets a variety of needs. CCS began to develop other programs to enable low-income households with the "tools" needed to become financially independent.

Reservations and accepting auction donations for the event are still being accepted.
