SYRACUSE - A Syracuse man died early Saturday morning when he was flipped off his motorcycle on South Shore Drive, Syracuse.

Christopher J. Ringler, 24, West Brooklyn, Syracuse, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 2:58 a.m. Saturday. Ringler apparently suffered massive internal injuries.

According to police, Ringler was driving north on Ind. 13 at a high rate of speed. Police reports indicate Ringler may have been traveling more than 100 miles per hour when he missed a curve on Ind. 13 and drove off the road.

The motorcycle hit an earth embankment and went into the air for approximately 192 feet until it hit the ground. It then flipped end-over-end for more than 300 feet into shrubs and small trees before it came to rest on South Shore Drive.

Ringler was found lying near the street next to Vawter Park Drive.

Police reported Ringler's motorcycle "basically disintegrated." Ringler was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department is continuing the investigation.

They were assisted at the scene by the Syracuse Police Department, North Webster Police Department and Syracuse Fire Department.

Ringler's obituary is on page 3A of today's Times-Union. [[In-content Ad]]
