Couple Caught for Theft, Arrested for Meth

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

A Warsaw pair was arrested late Saturday at Walmart after a run-in with the superstore’s loss prevention team led police to a vehicle with finished meth inside.

Around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Walmart security called in Warsaw police with a man held on a trespassing allegation and a woman on a shoplifting charge.

Lt. Kip Shuter, Warsaw police spokesman, said the man – Matthew Wallace Thompson, 37, of 1135 S. Zimmer Road, Warsaw – had walked into the store against a prior suspension, and was held. Soon after, loss prevention found 41-year-old Deanna Michelle Davis, of 1395 W. Eastbrooke St., Warsaw, had attempted to lift various items of clothing from the store, and she was held on a theft charge.

As police arrived, with a K-9, they found Codeine pills on Thompson, and two containers of finished meth inside the vehicle, according to Shuter.

Davis was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and theft. She was fixed a $2,000 bond.

Thompson was held on charges of criminal trespass and possession of methamphetamine. He was assigned a $3,000 bond.
