The Area Plan Commission made recommendations for several preliminary plat approvals at their meeting Wednesday afternoon.

The commission recommended approval for a preliminary plat of 9.1 acres on the south side of County Line Road and Shore Lane in Turkey Creek Township.[[In-content Ad]]The petitioner, Clay Raskin, said the land will be used to develop three single-dwelling homes that all meet minimum requirements.

The commission approved the recommendation provided a letter from the Department of Health about a septic system in the area could be procured.

CTB Inc. in Milford received a favorable recommendation from the commission to convert 37.772 acres of land from environmental to a light industrial area.

The land is formerly Big Boulder Golf Course.

Representatives from CTB said at this time they only plan on converting a residence on the land into an office building for the company's human resources department.

The Milford Town Council will vote on the matter at their meeting Monday.

Owen Family Funeral Home took another step toward building a new facility on Ind. 13 across CR 500N from PJs Too.

Attorney Steve Snyder spoke on behalf of Owen and said the preliminary plat was "pretty straight forward."

The commission unanimously approved a preliminary plat.

Snyder said Owen Family Funeral Home would be flexible in moving a drive way at the facility if changes are made to the road by the county highway department.

The commission also voted to give a favorable recommendation to the vacation of Constitution Drive in the Country Club Acres subdivision on the northeast corner of Lake Wawasee.

The commission also made a favorable recommendation to vacate lot 57 in the subdivision and allow it to become part of lot 56.

Commission member Larry Coplen had to excuse himself from the voting because he was representing the petitioner.

After the official meeting, the commission once again discussed possible ordinance changes regarding fencing, RVs and agricultural zones.
