A new compressor for the Kosciusko County Justice Building and new steps for the east entrance to the county courthouse will cost more than $45,000.
County Administrator Ron Robinson requested and the Kosciusko County Commissioners approved both projects this morning at the commissioners meeting.
Robinson told the commissioners that a compressor that provides cooling to the justice building went out and to replace it would cost $36,778.
Robinson then gave the commissioners a quote of $9,350 to fix the steps that lead into the old courthouse on its east side. The quote also involves some patchwork and fixing the handicap entrance to the building.
County Highway Superintendent Scott Tilden had the commissioners provide ordinances for stretches of road in the county with already posted speed limit signs.
One ordinance concerns CR 475E from Armstrong Road to 1,670 feet south of the road.
Signs had already been posted there for 30 miles per hour but there was no ordinance for it.
The other was for CR 225E from Old 30 to CR 100N.
Warsaw’s stretch of that road is 35 mph while the county’s is 40 mph.
Tilden also told the commissioners he’s been doing administrative reorganizing since he’s taken over and asked to allow an assistant superintendent position to be created. It will be paid at the level of the road supervisor’s salary.
Robinson also told the commissioners they had been invited to the county council’s June 9 meeting at 6 p.m. to hear a presentation from Kosciusko Economic Development Co. Executive Director George Robertson.
Zoning ordinance amendments to clarify the meaning of small structures, like sheds, was approved by the commissioners.
The commissioners signed an amended vacation ordinance on Northshore Drive that was approved at its May 10 meeting.
A deed of dedication for Pink Magnolia Drive in Flagstone Terrace near Winona Lake was approved.
All three commissioners, Bob Conley, Brad Jackson and Ron Truex, were present at today’s meeting.
The commissioner’s next meeting is June 7 at 9 a.m. They meet in the old courtroom at the Kosciusko County Courthouse.[[In-content Ad]]
