Kosciusko County Commissioners passed an ordinance this morning formalizing part-time and full-time employee hours ahead of Affordable Care Act coverage implementation in January.
The ordinance, which County Administrator Ron Robinson noted is similar to what four other counties have passed, defines full-time county public retirement employees – those who receive benefits and retirement – as working 37-1/2 hours a week.
Full-time Affordable Care Act employees, those who receive some benefits but no retirement, are defined as working at least 30 hours a week. And part-time employees, who receive no retirement or benefits beyond those such as Social Security, are defined as working no more than 25 hours a week.
The ordinance also defines seasonal and temporary employees and specifies that those who work for 120 days in a calendar year cannot be rehired by the county without a minimum of six months between engagements.
Robinson noted that Kosciusko has seen a minimal increase in health and worker’s compensation insurance compared to other counties, crediting it to the county’s employee clinic.
Also during the meeting, Board President Ron Truex reported that Trupointe Cooperative Inc. has given the county land to widen North CR 100E north of the railroad tracks. Bids will be taken July 30 for the work.
Widening of CR 100E south of the tracks will be done at a later time.
The county also will open bids July 16 for work on bridge no. 7, which crosses Deeds Creek on CR 225E.[[In-content Ad]]
