Kosciusko County Council approved several fund transfers as well as the visitor commission budget Thursday.

The council OK’d the transfer of $1,900 from county coroner travel and repair funds to deputy coroner pay; $13,816.75 from county commissioners part time and Juvenile Justice Task Force funds to assistant computer system administrator and unemployment compensation funds; and $8,200 from county health department retirement and Social Security contributions funds to telephones, postage and meeting and travel expenses.

Council members also approved a total budget of $433,000 for the Kosciusko County Convention, Recreation and Visitor Commission. But approval came with the recommendation, made by councilman Jim Moyer and approved unanimously, that the commission limit employee salary increases to 2 percent.

That would keep the commission in line with the salary increase limit set for other county agencies, Moyer said.

In motioning for budget approval, councilman Larry Teghtmeyer also complimented the commission on its funding of area bike trail improvements.

Commission Treasurer Jo Paczowski, who presented the budget to the council, noted the commission had to scale back on donations to town festivals and events – typically $500 or $1,000 here or there – in order to fund bike and walking trail improvements. But they hope to put more money back into the fund for next year, she said.[[In-content Ad]]
