By Staff Report-

A suspect reportedly involved in the Sept. 12 robbery of KeyBank, North Webster, was apprehended and arrested without incident Friday morning just north of Warsaw.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and detectives arrested Zachary Springer, 28, of Warsaw, Captain Aaron Rovenstine said Friday.
Springer was preliminarily charged with false informing, habitual offender and felony level 2 robbery and theft.
Rovenstine said detectives determined through their investigation that Springer initially placed a threatening telephone call the morning of the robbery to Wawasee High School “as a diversionary ploy.”
Officers allege that approximately 22 minutes later, Springer entered and robbed the bank.
The North Webster branch of KeyBank is located in the New Market plaza. The bank was robbed at 9:17 a.m. Sept. 12. Springer allegedly entered the bank wearing Carhart®-type coveralls, a blue handkerchief or mask over his face and dark glasses.
He demanded cash but did not brandish a weapon, police said.
Earlier that day, Wawasee High School was placed on lockdown after it received a telephone threat. The nature of the threat was not disclosed.
“Deputies had worked tirelessly on this investigation from the initial call, determined to locate and apprehend the suspect,” Rovenstine said. He also said detectives and crime scene technicians executed search warrants Friday on Springer’s residence, along with his vehicle which also was secured during the arrest.
Springer is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $400,000 bond on the robbery and theft charges and $25,000 bond on the false informing charge.
