It's been a year since the body of Heather Endicott was found in a pond north of the Center Center in Warsaw, and police and her family are still searching for clues about her killer.

Endicott, 24, of Warsaw, disappeared Dec. 4, 2001. She was last seen that day at Big Daddy's Sports Bar in Warsaw, where her pickup was located Dec. 5, 2001. The vehicle was retrieved by family members and taken home Dec. 9. Police later found Endicott's purse and identification inside the pickup.

She was listed as a missing person from Dec. 10 until her body was discovered three months later, on March 14, 2002. Endicott's body was found wrapped in a piece of carpet in the pond near Bob Evans Restaurant on the east side of Warsaw. The discovery was made by two fishermen clearing an area where they were hoping to fish along the shoreline.

Endicott's death was ruled a homicide, but a manner of death has not yet been determined, according to police.

Detective J.D. Ayres of the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department said the investigation remains in full force, but no new leads have come in. Police are continuing to follow up on information already known in the case, and several people have been interviewed in connection with Endicott's disappearance and subsequent murder.

Endicott's father, Billy Stambaugh, said he is still looking for answers in his daughter's death and tries to explain to his two grandchildren - Heather's son and daughter - "why mommy's not home."

Anyone with information about the Endicott case can contact Ayres at 267-5667, Crime Stoppers at 800-342-STOP or any law enforcement agency. [[In-content Ad]]
