Kosciusko County Prosecutor Charles Waggoner filed a continuance in the case against Jason Fisher, 23, of Millersburg.

Fisher is charged with the Jan. 15 murder of an employee of his Milford business and was scheduled to go on trial beginning Monday. The body of Kathy Vroman, 48, was found Jan. 26 in a snowy wooded area near Three Rivers, Mich. Authorities believe Vroman was shot at Country Car Co., where she was employed by Fisher, and her body was then taken to Michigan.

Citing a need for more time to prepare for trial, Waggoner said via telephone today that a request for the trial to be continued was filed Tuesday. The scheduled trial date was vacated and a new trial date is expected to be set after the first of the year. The trial is expected to take about 10 days. The next hearing in the case is Jan. 25 in Kosciusko Circuit Court.

Officials have said they believe Vroman's death is related to an auto theft ring, a crime for which three men, including Vroman's husband, already were sentenced. These three men are expected to testify in the trial against Fisher.

Charges remain pending against Ralph Fredderick Fisher of Goshen. Ralph Fisher, who is Jason Fisher's father, is charged with obstruction of justice. He allegedly advised his son on how to dispose of Vroman's body. He is set to go on trial in January. [[In-content Ad]]
