AKRON - Constance "Connie" B. Loer, 83, of Cardinal Nursing & Rehabilitation, South Bend, and formerly of Akron, died at 2:20 p.m. July 30, 2009, in Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, South Bend.

She was born June 3, 1926, in Madrid, Mo., to David and Gracie Irene Irvine Redd. On Sept. 3, 1941, in Huntington, she married John Charles Loer, who died May 26, 1964.

She moved to Burket from Kokomo in 1958, and lived in the Kosciusko County area most of her life. She was a 1942 Swayzee High School graduate. She was a night supervisor at Penguin Point on Detroit Street for more than 20 years, and worked in the shipping department at DePuy for more than 20 years, retiring in 1994. She was a 4-H leader for several years and baked wedding cakes for people.

Surviving are three children: Bernard (and spouse Liz) Loer, Kokomo; John "JR" (and spouse Donna) Loer, Warsaw; and Brenda (and spouse Mike) Zarembka, Granger; six grandchildren: Jeff, Terry, Stacy and Brandon Loer, Jennifer Zarembka Anderson and Marcus Zarembka; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph Redd.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, with the Rev. Wanda Carter officiating. Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
