By Staff Report-

The Kosciusko Community YMCA is currently engaged with its annual campaign to ensure that everyone in Kosciusko County has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
According to a release from the YMCA, every day, the Kosciusko Community YMCA works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues such as youth obesity and chronic disease.
The Y also supports families through before- and after-school care and summer camp, becomes a social connector for the community and provides lifesaving programs such as swim lessons for adults and youth and CPR and first aid for their employees.
“Throughout Kosciusko County, countless people know ‘the Y.’ But there’s so much more to our Y than one might think,” said Chad Zaucha, CEO, Kosciusko Community YMCA. “The Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause. As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors.”
This year, the Kosciusko Community YMCA hopes to raise $60,000. Funds raised will support programs and services to everyone, regardless of ability to pay, and will help support summer camp, diabetes prevention and Kids’ Club Before and After School Care programs.
Last year, according to the release, charitable gifts from YMCA donors made it possible for 53 kids to attend gymnastics lessons and learn confidence and coordination; 43 kids to take swim lessons and learn how to be safe around the water; 38 kids to attend Before and After School Care, which includes physical and nutritional components to prevent youth obesity; 31 kids to gain sportsmanship skills in youth sports; 24 children to spend time outdoors at summer camp, safe and secure while learning over the summer; 146 families to spend time together at the Y in programs, working out in the gym or playing in the pool.
