The Kosciusko County Commissioners approved during Tuesday's meeting the McClure Lake Subdivision developers' request to complete the platted road at the old standard width of 20 feet.

Assistant county planner Matt Sandy said a deviation from the standard 22 feet width made sense in this circumstance because just a portion of the road needs to be finished. The new standards also call for curbing and gutters. In this particular area of the subdivision, drainage isn't a concern, Sandy said.[[In-content Ad]]The Area Plan Commission approved this variance of the county road standards.

Highway superintendent Dennis Pletcher said the county already maintains the completed road.

Commissioner Brad Jackson recommended a deed restriction be attached to the property, just in case there were complaints about drainage.

McClure Lake Subdivision is east of CR 675W in Seward Township.

The commissioners heard from Emergency Management Director Ed Rock who said the county should be eligible for a Emergency Management Performance Grant. The grant money pays for half of his salary and half of his assistant's salary.

Rock recently completed a survey of completed tasks as required by the state. Each task was assigned a point value with the county's points adding up to 48.

Rock said more points should be added when regional emergency plans are complete and applied to the county requirements.

The commissioners reviewed a report from the office of the treasurer prepared by chief deputy Cindy Nolton.

County Treasurer Kent Adams was on hand to answer any questions regarding the collection of delinquent personal property taxes.

Nolton's report shows $35,778.84 in back taxes on 163 parcels has been collected by American Financial Credit Services.

The company was hired by the county in October to collect delinquent personal property taxes.

County commissioners are Ron Truex, Jackson and Bob Conley.

The next commissioners meeting is March 20 at 9 a.m.
