Commissioners OK Leesburg TIF District

Kosciusko County Commissioners gave approval to the creation of a tax increment finance district Tuesday.

Creation of the TIF will allow property tax revenue from any new construction to be captured for use in infrastructure improvements in the area. The Area Plan Commission approved the TIF at a meeting last year.

The commissioners also approved the vacation of a small plot of land in Seward Township during an Area Plan Commission hearing Tuesday.

The commissioners elected officers for 2008 Tuesday. Brad Jackson will serve as board president and Bob Conley will serve as vice president.

In other news:

- Both Jackson and Truex, whose board seats are up for election this year, said they plan to run for re-election.

- The commissioners appointed Jane Kauffman, John Hall and Alan Alderfer to the public defenders board.

- Approved a $712,955 operating budget for Kosciusko Area Bus Services.[[In-content Ad]]
